About Me

Sindhu BS

Founder and Therapist

Professional Membership:
Association for Contextual Behavioral Science (ACBS), USA

Registration Number from the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI): A55243

My main goal through Aware Mental Health is to make counselling and therapy accessible, affordable, and most importantly, derived from the best scientific approaches. Clients struggling with anxiety, depression and other life problems, deserve to live live fuller and more meaningful lives.

I am NOT the kind of counsellor who judges you, lectures you, gives you advice to think positively, or shames you for your problems. Instead when you work with me, you will find a safe, non-judgmental space, and a wealth of therapy tools and strategies that will help you to effectively deal with your problems. Everything we do in our sessions will always have a rationale and purpose.

My education consists of a Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Stout, USA. At the time I started my Master’s, my university was ranked 9th in the Rehabilitation Counselling domain for the whole of United States.

During my grad school, I got a well-rounded training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). My clinical training included working for the State Government of Virginia before moving back to Bangalore, India. Over time, I ventured into third-wave behavioural therapies like Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and stumbled upon the powerful research surrounding Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT, pronounced as the word “act”).

ACT is a new cognitive-behaviour therapy (CBT) that is grounded in scientific research and evidence-based interventions. Over the last few years, I have trained extensively under Dr. Russ Harris, a leading practitioner and trainer from Australia. I have an advanced certification in delivering third-wave behavioural therapy, working with trauma and anxiety disorders. Additionally, I have also trained under Lisa Coyne, PhD, who is an internationally recognized expert in OCD and anxiety. I am one of the few therapists in India trained for delivering the latest standard of ERP therapy.

Here is a list of trainings I have done:

– ACT immersion from Dr Steven Hayes
– Advanced training in ACT from Dr Russ Harris, including Trauma work
– Personal mentorship from Dr Russ Harris
– Advanced training for treating OCD from Dr Patricia Zurita Ona, Dr Lisa Coyne, and Dr Ben Sedley
– Exposure for Anxiety and OCD from Dr Eric Morris and Dr Lisa Coyne
– Supervision from Claudette Foley, an ACT practitioner and WHO consultant from Australia
– Supervision from Dr Lisa Coyne, OCD pioneer and Professor at Harvard Medical School
– One of the moderators for the popular Acceptance and Commitment therapy group for professionals on Facebook.

Anannya Saikia

Psychologist

Aware is proud to welcome Anannya Saikia in to its work space as a practitioner starting this summer. With a Master’s in Human Development and Psychology from Harvard University, a focus on third wave CBT practices, and more than half a decade of her  life invested in education and counselling services, Anannya has played a pivotal role in the creation of Aware Mental Health.

A staunch advocate of creating awareness in the domain of mental health care in India, she has been loudly vocal in the fight against taboos associated with mental health care amongst young Indians. As Aware soars to become one of India’s unique leading personalized psychotherapeutic and counseling service providers, I am excited to work with Anannya in our joint efforts towards revolutionizing the psychological wellbeing landscape of India.

She is happy to offer appointments on Saturdays, Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays. Here is her phone number to contact for an appointment: +91 96067 09991
